George Washington Carver National Monument is a unit of the National Park Service located in Diamond, Missouri; the national monument was founded on July 14, 1943 by Franklin Delano Roosevelt who dedicated $30,000. The site preserves the site of the boyhood home of George Washington Carver, as well as the 1881 Moses Carver house and the Carver cemetery. It features a nature trail and museum. His boyhood home consists of rolling hills, woodlands, and prairies. The 210 acre (0.8 km²) park has a 3/4 mile (1.2 km) nature trail, museum, and an interactive exhibit area for students. This cultural setting includes the 1881 Historic Moss Carver house and the cemetry. It is open year round, from 9am-5pm.

Charles Daly Barnet (October 26, 1913 – September 4, 1991) was an American jazz saxophonist and bandleader.
Barnet was born in New York City. His parents divorced when he was two, and he was raised by his mother and her grandparents. His grandfather was Charles Frederick Daly, a vice-president for the New York Central Railroad, banker, and businessman.
He was one of the first bandleaders to integrate his band; the year is variously given as 1935 or 1937. He was an outspoken admirer of Count Basie and Duke Ellington; Basie once lent Barnet his charts after Barnet's had been destroyed in a fire. Throughout his career he was an opponent of syrupy arrangements.
Barnet was at the height of his popularity between 1939 and 1941, a period that began with his hit "Cherokee." In 1944 he had another big hit with "Skyliner". In 1947 he started to switch from swing to bop. During his swing period his band included Buddy DeFranco, Roy Eldridge, Neal Hefti, Lena Horne, Barney Kessel, Dodo Marmorosa, Oscar Pettiford, and Art House, while later versions of the band included Maynard Ferguson, Doc Severinsen, and Clark Terry.
In 1949 he retired, apparently because he had lost interest in music; he was able to retire so young because he had been born wealthy. He occasionally returned from retirement for brief tours but never returned to music full time.

The Battle of Cook's Mills was the last engagement between U.S. and British/Canadian armies fought in Niagara, and second-last (to the Battle of Malcolm's Mills) on the Canadian soil during the War of 1812.

The battle showed the effects of Izard's well trained troops. The American forces took Cook's Mills and burned about 200 bushels of wheat intended to feed the British Army. Despite the victory (?), it became apparent that Drummond was not going to move from his defenses, and so Izard withdrew back to Fort Erie where he destroyed the fort and returned to the U.S. side of the river. Drummond moved to the remains of Fort Erie but chose not to rebuild it, and thus the fighting along the Niagara Frontier came to an end.

Apotekarnes Cola was a cola-flavoured soft drink produced in Sweden by Pripps/Carlsberg Sverige.
Pripps held the license to sell Coca-Cola until the late 1990s when this license was lost. The other soft drink flavours of the Pripps brewery - such as julmust, sockerdricka and hallonmust - had been using the brand Apotekarnes ("the Druggists'"), and this brand was also used for the cola that replaced Coca-Cola. Apotekarnes Cola was distributed by Pripps (later merged into Carlsberg Sverige) until they got the license to produce Pepsi-Cola in Sweden.
